    Reconfigure active BizTalk group

OK, no-one sees to ask question here so I thought I'd have a go Smile

I've inherited (what seems like) a hastily cobbled together set of BizTalk environments. While it's not a major head-ache, the way groups and accounts have been configured and named in production is different to the other test/dev environments. I'd like to make them consistent, just for my own peace of mind if nothing else.

How can I convince an already active (read deployed, configured and working) BizTalk environment to change the name of things like the BizTalk administrators group or the operators group? Is it even possible without un-configuring everything and having to redeploy all solutions?

    Hi Matt,

Im not sure if there is an easy way to do this that I would do with an already deployed production environment.  If it was a dev box id be tempted to fiddle a bit because there was little risk.

Probably the best pragmatic approach you could take would be to create some new groups 1 for each of the groups you already have but with the appropriate naming conventions you want.  I would then add these new groups to the groups you already have and then migrate users to be in the good named groups rather than the old ones.  This should mean your users have the same permissions and you can maintain things with the new groups but you dont have to re-configure anything in BizTalk.  You could then document in an appropriate place.

I dont think theres a great solution here but hopefully the idea above gets you what you want with limited risk

Cheers Mike. I thought about nesting the groups and membership so it's an option. I'm leaving production well alone BTW... it's the dev and test envirnoments I want to sort out Smile
